Online Tutoring

Access. Assistance. Anywhere.

Online tutoring is live, free and available to all ASU students, including ASU Online degree students. To get support with course concepts or with your writing, you can interact in real-time with a peer tutor – an ASU student who has successfully completed classes in which you are currently enrolled. Access tutoring sessions from anywhere with only a reliable internet connection.

Using online tutoring is simple. You can listen and participate by using speech software or a text-based chat box. Your peer tutor will use an interactive whiteboard to diagram concepts and upload PowerPoint documents or PDF files to clarify course material with you. 

  • Online tutoring is offered Sundays through Thursdays from 3 p.m.-10 p.m., Arizona Time.
  • Both online writing and subject area sessions are recorded to allow for review after the session. You can request the URL for your recorded session from your tutor.

ASU recommends using Mozilla Firefox browser for Adobe Connect. To access Adobe Connect, the latest Add-In is required. Getting started

Steps to getting started using Adobe Connect

  1. Download Mozilla Firefox for your internet browser. ASU recommends you use Mozilla Firefox when using Adobe connect for the best functionality.
  2. Check your Adobe Flash Player to make sure you have the most recent version.
  3. Download the Adobe Connect Add-In. You may need to install this application on your machine to simplify access to Adobe Connect.
  4. Practice Using Adobe Connect using the ASU Practice room link. This room is open for you to practice navigating around the room and using different features, such as connecting your microphone, uploading files, etc.

Optional Steps:

  1. To receive additional support from ASU’s Adobe Connect team, submit the Adobe Connect Troubleshooting Form. 
  2. Practice connecting your Microphone if you will want to use this tool to verbally communicate with tutoring staff. 
  3. Review how to Convert your Document to a PDF if you are preparing for a writing appointments, as this is the best format to quickly share your document during your appointment.
