Writing Centers

ASU Writing Centers offer a dynamic, supportive learning environment for undergraduate and graduate students at any stage of the writing process. Tutors from a wide range of majors help students hone writing skills and gain confidence in their writing.

Benefits of Writing Tutoring

All writers — all ASU undergraduate or graduate students — can benefit from visiting the Writing Center to:

  • Explore, plan, and develop ideas
  • Organize and structure a paper
  • Integrate and cite sources
  • Engage in writing and revision 
  • Discuss editing and proofreading strategies
     

In-Person Writing Tutoring

ASU students can schedule a 30-minute in-person appointment for one-to-one writing tutoring.  Writing tutoring for walk-ins may be limited and is subject to tutor availability.  Please be sure to call call your campus writing center if you need to change or cancel your appointment.

Please bring the following to your tutoring appointment:

  • your ASU Sun Card - you will need to check in and present your ID
  • your assignment instructions
  • a printed draft, if you have one

Online Writing Tutoring

Need help with a paper and can't get to campus? Try online writing tutoring, accessible anywhere you have an Internet connection. Have questions? Please call 480-965-9072.

English Conversation Hour

In partnership with the American English and Culture Program's conversation groups, the Polytechnic Writing Center is offering international students the opportunity to practice their English speaking skills in a small, interactive group setting.  ASU international students can schedule a one-hour in-person appointment with a tutor at the Polytechnic campus.  Appointments will range from one to five students per tutor.  Students are welcome to come to an appointment individually as well as invite their peers to sign up for the same appoinment time. Please see our directions for scheduling an appointment.  Appointments are offered at the following times:

  • Wednesdays:  12-1 pm
  • Thursdays:  2-3 pm
  • Fridays:  12-1 pm

All students of various writing levels and fields are welcome to join us for a creative writing workshop! No appointment necessary.
